What Is a Dead Pixel Test?

Each display contains millions of pixels. Sometimes a pixel becomes a dead pixel or a stuck pixel that shows only one color. The Pixel Test displays solid full-screen colors to help you detect these small dots with your eyes.

How to Do the Dead Pixel Test

  1. Clean the display surface — dust or smudges can mimic dead pixels or stuck pixels.
  2. Set screen brightness to medium–high and, if possible, dim the room lights.
  3. Click “Check Your Screen Now” and switch to full-screen mode.
  4. The test will show solid full-screen colors in sequence: black, white, red, green, and blue.
  5. Inspect closely: if the same dot remains visible on every color, double-check that exact spot for a dead or stuck pixel.

Note: The test does not automatically label the pixel — detection is visual and manual.

Why It Matters

Detecting dead pixels or stuck pixels early is important for returns and warranty claims on displays such as phones, monitors, and TVs. Finding the issue quickly makes resolving or replacing the screen much easier.
